Procedures:
Copy HW in agenda
Collect any early NTB alternative-ending assignments for Dojo points (optional)
Bell work: Identify and label parts of speech in each word of sentence on SMART Board.
Take U1P2 Pre-test –grade together as a class, or collect and grade it while students are working on workbook pgs.
Students who earned 100% may receive Alternative Assignment options for this week’s WW HW—due Thursday too.
Introduce this week’s Word Wisdom context clue—complete pages 12-13 in class. (“Unlock the meaning”)
Return U1P1 Post-test from last week. Correct answer to the Bonus (MUG Shot) on SMART Board together.

Bell work: Figurative Language Warm-up on the SMART Board—Ask for volunteers to share their examples with the class.
Distribute “I Am Poem” assignment. Read directions and example together.
Begin brainstorming and writing rough draft—when complete, have it checked and approved by the teacher before beginning Final Draft (due Friday)

U1P2 pages 14-17 due tomorrow.
Continue brainstorming for I Am Poem

Check HW: independent reading book check.
When students have completed their quiz, they may 1) finish their I Am Poem final draft (due by end of period today!) or 2) Quietly and independently read. Implement Dojo points.
